(Nancy Boe, Mr. Coverdale, Jill Kruger, Kari Senger, Teresa Gillaspie, Beatha Kliewer, Shelby Frame, Melissa Schultz, Dewayne Donaldson, Nichole MaComb)

Treasurer’s Report – An updated income/expense report was provided and discussed.

Principal Report –   Mr. Coverdale provided an update on the vegetable pilot.  There were 250 lbs. of vegetable sent out.  86 lbs were consumed by our students.  Lunchroom staff made it work very smoothly.  Bingo night went well and all the children had a good time.  It worked very well to have the bingo nights back to back.  Parent Teacher conferences are coming up at the end of this week.  Dakota Step Testing will be conducted the week of April 12th.

Perkins Fundraiser – Shelby Frame provided an update on the Perkins fundraiser.  The fundraiser went well.  We receive 10% of the sales from 4-8 and we made $201.87.  We are required to seat the people as they come in and 3 volunteers will be needed for the next time.

Fundraising/Wellness Committee

Wildcat t-shirts – Beatha Kliewer and Lynn Spomer got all the tshirts ordered and handed out to the kids.  They ordered a few extra of sizes to keep on hand for new kids coming into the school.  A total of 325 shirts were ordered.  There are a few adult shirts to wear when we have fundraisers.  The kids wore the shirts for Bingo night, a girls basketball game, and a boys basketball game.

Ice Skating -     The PTO will pay for ice skating and skate rental for the kids.  Dewayne Donaldson has organized the ice skating.  We are splitting the kids up into K & 1st, 2nd & 3rd, 4th & 5th time frames.  The K & 1st will be on Sat March 6 from 1:30-3:30, 2nd & 3rd will be Fri. March 5 from 6-8, and 4th & 5th will be Fri. March 12th from 6-8.  We are in need of a parent volunteer to be there each night to guide the people as they come in.  Melissa Schultz will make a flyer and hand it out to the classrooms.  Kari Senger will contact Taylor Monfore with YIP to see if they are interested in coming out and doing games with the kids.  Each parent will have to sign a waiver before their kids can skate.  We will encourage the smaller ones to wear helmets &  tell everyone to dress warm.  Dewayne will check to see if concessions will be open.

Farm Island Family Fun Night – Lynn Spomer is organizing a family fun night.  The cost is $50 for the first 1-50 people, $100 for 50-100 people, $150 for 100-150.  The tentative date is going to be the 1st weekend in May.  They will have a couple rangers do a nature walk, have equipment out to play with, and possible do a cooking demonstration over a campfire.

Basketball hoops – Nancy Boe has ordered one basketball hoop and backboard and it should be here by March 11th and installed by April.  The maintenance guys want to see how the hoop works with our existing poles.  If all goes well, we will order the rest of them.  A set of flag football equip has also been bought.

YMCA family fun night – We will have the Y family night in September as a back to school event.  Dewayne Donaldson is organizing this event.  They will provide the aquatic center free of charge for us to use.  We will go from 6-9 on a date to be picked in the future.  We could have a concession stand to make money if we want or we could order pizza and have fruit for the kids to eat.

National Turn off TV week – Marty Allison is organizing this event.  She is talking about doing challenge sheets to help the kids get excited to turn off the TV and screen time for a week.  Kari Senger will speak with Marty and see how much is need for prizes.

Kindergarten Swimming – Dewayne Donaldson & Mr. Coverdale are organizing this as a pilot program.  If the pilot goes well, they will try to get the district to pay for this in the future.  The Kindergarten children would be bussed up to the Y for a 50 min. swimming lesson twice a week.  The Y staff would help the kids get dressed and undressed and they think it would take and hour and 20 min to get them up there, changed, swim and back to school.  There would be 22-24 kids per class with 3 instructors in each class.  We are only paying for the cost of the instructors and would be around $900.

Tanya Crevier assembly – Shelby Frame has organized this.  The date is set for Apr. 28 & is $500

Walk to School event – Jeri Wiebe and Kris Bradley are organizing this event.  We can use the free health items from the Health Dept as giveaways.  Wal-mart has donated apples in the past.

Wellness Messages on walls – Mrs. M has agreed to organize this.  The high school art students have agreed to paint murals on our bathroom walls.  They have asked us to tell them exactly what we want for pictures and messages.  All we have to pay for is the paint.

School Gardening project – Kristie Maher is working on this project.  Gathering information at this time and possibilities of getting grant money.

Assembly 2011 – Mr Coverdale is working on securing a date for an assembly for 2011.

Bingo Nights-  Teresa Gillaspie provided an update on Bingo night.  Things went very well.  We had approx 115 kids at each one.   Teresa kept track of what was bought so we have a record for the next bingo night.  Trinkets from the book fair will be pulled to use at the next bingo night.

Conference Lunches – Shelby Frame has organized the conference lunches.  We are providing soup and desserts.  We are in need of 4 soups and 3 desserts.  We plan on feeding 30 people.  The food needs to be at the school by 3 pm on Thursday in the teachers lounge.

Spring Book Fair  - Nichole MaComb & Jill Kruger will again co-chair our book fair.  They have all of the volunteers needed.  It was difficult to find volunteers for the book fair this year.  Tuesday will be set up day, Wed. preview day and then the book fair is open Thurs. & Friday.  Nichole has the jar full of candy and will go around to the classes and have them guess how many candy are in the jar.  The child with the closest guess in each class will receive a $5 coupon towards a book at the book fair.

Computers for Education – Beatha Kliewer coordinated this fundraiser.  We had 120 kids return their books with some of these not being full.  1104 addresses were provided at $.50 and address.  They prorated our bonus this year since we were so close to our goal.  We received $913.00 from this fundraiser.  We will not do this fundraiser for the 2010-2011 school year.

Capital Journal – Dewayne Anderson from the Capital Journal sent a fundraising idea for us to take a look at.  For every renewed or new Capital journal subscription done through our school, the school would get $5.  We would just send a form home with the kids and if their parents wanted to participate they would send in the sheet to the Capital journal with their money and the Capital Journal would keep track of what was owed to the school.  Tabled until the beginning of the school year.  Propose to the journal that maybe we could promote a 9 month subscription to correlate with the school year.

Next Meeting – The next meeting will be Monday, March 29, 2010 at 7:00 PM in the school library.
